Paul Von Ward Activities Update (#1-2011)
This Spring report explains my Winter absence from cyberspace (at least my head was not in The Cloud) and, I hope, includes a few items of possible interest to you. Those of you who read my last Friends and Colleagues email in December will recall I was pontificating about how we should and could reform government. I received encouraging comments useful to this Internet community. See here. Others offered useful resources here.
Among questions from friends—including my own subconscious—several merged into this "Are we doing anything relevant to these issues in our own community?" (More on this below.) As the year turned we had a mentally stimulating exchange between our British colleague John Heatly and graduate student Carol Hubbard of the Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. We are sharing this material, with an additional comment by Paul Bernstein, in the middle of this webpage. On the same page, you can find links to two hours of my January interview on the socio-political concept of self-governance as essential to the natural process of human spiritual evolution. In the meantime, I prepared for my publisher some updates for a future version of the book Gods, Genes & Consciousness. That groundbreaking book introduced the concept of ABs (for advanced beings who may be extra-planetary or other-dimensional entities) and identified possible ways in which they likely intervened in human development. If you haven't read the current edition yet, purchase a copy on Amazon. The Kindle version is also available on Amazon. Two recent books to which I have contributed chapters are recommended: Visits to Heaven by Josie Varga describes the evidence for a human consciousness that appears to extend beyond our 4-D existence and continues to interact with many aspects of our mundane existence. My chapter discusses research on the soul genome as the core of this multidimensional reality. 2012: Create Your Own Shift is a new book that focuses on practical views of the widely touted possible "shift" associated with a cyclical astronomical alignment next year. Its 37 contributors provide unique suggestions to use the energy of the 2012 zeitgeist to create constructive individual and societal change. My chapter deals with the possibilities of fundamental political reform. It is available in e-Book format. Hard copies are available. An eBook pdf version of The Soul Genome: Science and Reincarnation is available here along with reduced prices on all of my books. You may want to check out the possibilities.Practicing versus prescribing political reform. For the last five years, I have been focused on my research, writing, and lecturing. During that period my small north Georgia county was hit by the Great Recession and folks seemed to rally around and do the best we could to remain a caring and cooperative community. But, reflecting on the above mentioned question, I realized I had to leave my study and become more engaged in the community. So, I extended my community activities to contact people in all sectors of our county. When I began to scratch the surface I found that people were concerned that we collectively (at the level of institutions) and individually were not doing enough to address the social and economic challenges facing us today, and were doing even less about the difficulties that will face us in 2020 and beyond. Wherever I or others would ask how we could be helpful, citizens responded with ideas and shared their aspirations, willing to work together.Conversely, I found many citizens felt detached from the procedures of government and held the view that those in political office were mostly in it for themselves. In the private sector, I heard people calling for more transparency and citizen involvement in government's plans and policies that affect our county's future. They believe our county's institutions should use their taxes to provide support for their individual security and facilitate opportunities for self-development. It is clear that Middle East and North African calls for citizen-based government vary only in degree from what voters want in this country. My outreach involves me more deeply in the business, non-profit and government sectors. It includes a private initiative to develop a county-wide, consensus vision of my generation's legacy for the future. Another involves a citizens committee evaluating solutions to challenges now eluding the official system. Such commitments, along with writing The Reincarnation Code (a book on the six-year Reincarnation Experiment's cases and their implications for science and human development), will minimize my Internet time for the rest of this year. One of those commitments is to conduct two workshops on the Reincarnation Experiment methodology and findings in Montreal, Canada on July 14 and 16. This 2011 annual conference of the International Institute of Integral Human Sciences focuses on the Convergence of Future Science and Ancient Wisdom. Information is available here. The program of this 36-year old organization has helped bring together the cultures of the world and integrate scholars in separate disciples. Participation in it deepens insight into the globe's challenges and possible solutions. I encourage you to check it out and join us for July 14th in the largest French-language city of the Canadian province of Quebec.Thank you who have wondered where I had gone and for your interest in this work. With best wishes for the rest of 2011 for all of us, Paul
